A horse, a cow, or a dozen chickens

If I had lived 2,000 years ago I would choose to have the dozen chickens.  The reason for me choosing the dozen chickens is  one they reproduce at a fairly good rate. Also once the new chickens have come of age you can slaughter the older chickens for food,  and you can still eat the eggs from the chickens. And when you get a big enough stock pile of eggs you can go to town and sell them for a profit,  and then buy other goods you need. Plus nothing tastes as good as a fresh egg in the morning. Also they don't need much space so there a space saver. And there wastes or composted bodies can be used as fertilizer for crops that can be planted on the rest of your land. Then you can use the crops to get even more money.

  1. It was a little repetitive using also and and for the start of almost all your sentences. However, you had some good points why the chickens were the best choice.
